Abstract:

The investigation of two-dimensional (2D) heterostructures, both with and without magnetic substrates, has demonstrated significant potential for advancing the emerging fields of spintronics and valleytronics due to their ability to support various induced spin-orbit couplings. In this presentation, we examine spin and valley transport in graphene-like substrates influenced by one or more locally induced spin-orbit coupling (SOC) terms, arising from graphene-based heterostructures. Our models, which are based on a tight-binding approach, enable us to resolve different transport channels in reciprocal space and evaluate the electron transmission probability at each Dirac cone separately.

Biography:
Adel Belayadi is an associate professor at the University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene, Algeria. At present, his research interests are focused on the electronic and quantum transport properties of low-dimensional systems and nanostructures such as 2D material with proximity-induced spin-orbit couplings (graphene on a substrate) and Strain modulated superlattices in graphene.

My main interest is to investigate the Spintronics and Valleytronics properties of graphene and graphene-heterostructures using tight-binding approach.

All faculty, researchers and students are invited to attend.
