PEROVSKITE SOLAR CELL: PROMISES AND CHALENGES
Speaker: Mr. Abdurrahman Imam
Date: Monday, 19 December 2022
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Location: Bldg. 6/Room 125
Abstract:
One of the most promising methods for supplying the globe with cheap, clean, and sustainable energy is undoubtedly solar energy harvesting. Photovoltaic (PV) systems' costs have dropped significantly as installations have increased recently, making PV economically competitive with traditional energy sources, such as coal, in many regions. Perovskites solar cells (PCS) are at the forefront of emerging photovoltaic technologies, thanks to their fast rising and constantly improving power conversion efficiencies (PCEs), which are now exceeding 25%. Perovskites have the steepest rise of efficiency as a function of time of all the existing solar cell materials, and this makes them a game-changers in a photovoltaic performance race. However, issues related to stability have become the bottleneck in their commercialization. In this presentation, my talk will be about the golden promises and challenges in perovskites innovation.

Dynamic NIR solar spectral filtering and cooling systems with application to windows and greenhouse
Speaker: Mr. ABIOLA JOHN
Date: Monday, 19 December 2022
Time: 11:20 a.m.
Location: Bldg. 6/Room 125
Abstract:
In this research paper, we intend to develop a new type of dynamic greenhouse with near infrared radiation (NIR) spectral filtering and cooling system which can also find application in reducing the solar loads on building. With the increasing global radiation and high outdoor temperatures, cooling systems becomes an important issue to deal with. Spectrally selective materials which are capable of blocking up to 50% of solar energy both outside the building or greenhouse were used to reduce the solar load on the system.
